Helping create public art
Individuals in the Life Enrichment Program helped create a large fingerprint sculpture as part of the “Envision Your Impression” public art project, organized by Envision Arts and Downtown Wichita.
The sculpture, which will hang in Gallery Alley, 616 E. Douglas, will feature 27 individual pieces to create the fingerprint. A handful will be painted with chalkboard paint so community members can add their images. The rest have been designated for community partner organizations to color in with paint, mosiac materials or decoupage. In a news release, Envision representatives stated: “From agencies and schools working with individuals with disabilities to those serving our aging population, our veterans, agencies committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our community, such as Stop Suicide ICT, (this) is a collective impression that, when assembled, creates markers of our city’s identity.”
