Jill Tinsley, President
Employer: Sedgwick County, Community Relations Director
Family members: Husband Chris, planner with Apex Engineering; daughters, Sierra and Jenna.
How did you get involved with Starkey? I was encouraged to get involved by Sedgwick County Manager Bill Buchanan.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? My youngest daughter has cerebral palsy and I want to see her and others with disabilities thrive and be an active part of our community. It’s important to me that a variety of employment, housing, and recreational options are available to our friends and neighbors with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? Reading and spending time with family.
One word that describes you? Kind-hearted

Mark Koch, Vice President

Family members: Daughter Kelsey; son Zachary; granddaughter Lexie.
How did you get involved with Starkey? Gail Dody (Starkey parent) visited with me about Starkey back in 2000. I have served on either the Inc. board or Foundation board ever since.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? There are so many needs within the community that aren’t being met. It is up to those individuals who have the time and talents to make certain that we are meeting the needs of those that are less fortunate, or find themselves in need at this time. I take that personally and do my best to give back.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? Family time, traveling, personal fitness, and working on our house.

Lori Marceau, Secretary

Family members: Daughter Haley and son Cole
How did you get involved with Starkey? As a graduate student, my mentor was the late Carolyn Risley Hill (former Starkey CEO). She introduced me to the Starkey organization and the fabulous services they provide. I was so impressed with Starkey that when I was asked to serve on the board, I jumped at the opportunity.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? I believe as a society, we all have a responsibility to care for others. I enjoy serving others and hope that I can make someone else’s life better through my actions.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? Free time? What’s that? I enjoy quilting and knitting.

How did you get involved with Starkey? I was referred by my aunt and grandfather who are past board members.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? I believe we have a moral obligation to assist those that are unable to fully assist themselves.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? Being outdoors.

How did you get involved with Starkey? My brother, Roger, is a client of Starkey.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? Giving back to my community helps me stay humble, helps me grow as a person and gain new perspectives; I end up getting more back than I give. I feel God has blessed me in many ways so it is also a way to show my thanks to Him.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? Many of them: Riding bicycles, watching sports, crafts, shopping, cooking, spending time with family.

Family members: Wife Deena Fowler, elementary school teacher, Goddard School District; daughter Liz, elementary teacher, Goddard School District; son Evan, pursuing college education.
How did you get involved with Starkey? I was asked by a friend who was serving as the Starkey board chairman at the time.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? There are a lot of good causes and organizations in and around our community. Giving back in those areas helps to make our community better for everyone. One of the best feelings is the reward knowing you’ve helped someone or helped with something to make things better. It also helps broaden my horizons by getting me involved in areas outside of my job and personal life.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? I like to play golf, read and spend time with family.

How did you get involved with Starkey? My uncle lives and works at Starkey, and I completed an internship at Starkey for psychology.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? It is important to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? Spending time with my sons.

How did you get involved with Starkey? I was asked to serve by board members.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? We all benefit (directly and indirectly) from the Wichita community and this particular organization; therefore, we all have a duty to contribute to the success of both Starkey and the Wichita community.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? Golf, visiting family, and traveling.

How did you get involved with Starkey? I got involved through Colin McKenney, Starkey’s CEO.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? I see it as one way to show my integrity.

How did you get involved with Starkey?  My sister encouraged me.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? I talk about giving back to your community with my students and Starkey has allowed me to lead that charge by example. I like to make a difference for people and I believe that the Starkey Board of Directors is a way to do that.

How did you get involved with Starkey? I was asked by Greg Sevier to join the Board of Directors. I had a cousin that was served by Starkey, Inc.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? I feel that it is important that we give back to our community in any way that we can, with our time, money or our skills.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? I enjoy archery hunting and wildlife photography.

Tim Reimer

How did you get involved with Starkey? I first became involved with my daughter, Holly, graduated from Chisholm Life Skills school and began working in Starkey’s employment program.
Why is it important for you, personally, to give back to your community? I have always believed in a personal responsibility to support one’s community. I believe it is even more important now, as the public sector continues to scale back support of many community programs.
What is your favorite activity in your free time? I have a passion for gardening and landscaping. I enjoy history, the theater and fine arts. I travel regularly with my wife, Anita, and a great trip is one that mixes all of the aforementioned interests together!
